Masters Golf Tournament – Wednesday photos

Yesterday was a beautiful day at the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta Georgia! I know the Adams family group had a fantastic day!

The azaleas were at their peak. Kathy took some wonderful photos. Just walking on the golf course and seeing the flowers all in bloom is a treat in itself.
In the 1960’s, Whitey always gave Jack Nicklaus a blue tee before the Masters. This year, though, Whitey gave Jack one of his treasured buckeyes for good luck!
How wonderful to have Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer as honorary starters. It’s hard to imagine that Arnold Palmer is 80 years old — and he sure hit that little white ball right down the middle this morning! These two gentlemen represent golf at its finest – I salute them both with thanksgiving for all they have done and continue to do for the game of golf.! It looks like it’s going to be a most exciting tournament!

Awww. That is a great photo, Joan. Father and son enjoying the Masters Golf Tournament. Oh, and nothing can quite compare to the beauty of azaleas in full bloom.

Thank you, Mimi! I just love the tradition of it all — for us, and for thousands of others like us. The beauty of the course, the behavior of the crowd, the dignity, the traditions — all of it really touches me. It’s a daddy kind of day, for sure, and the kids treasure it. And that’s a blessing. Our azaleas are a couple of weeks behind Augusta I think. I always enjoy them too!

Thank you, Kate! I think I get as excited as Whitey does. I just love it all! Most tournaments I only watch the last few holes on the last day, but the Masters — I just try not to miss any of it! 🙂

  4. I love hearing about The Masters Tournament by your description, Joan! A very interesting slice of life. Thank you!

Wonderful shots of the Masters Tournament! Have always been a fan of both Arnie Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. Almost 30 years ago I had the pleasure of attending Jack’s Tournament in Ohio held in May. After all of these years, it still remains one of the most memorable vacations I have had. Arnie sure looks great for 80, doesn’t he! One of my memories of that tournament was the massive group (Arnie’s Army) that followed him to every hole that week! The players were so personable and actually noticed that you had followed them around as they played and the crowds were so very polite. Not like any other sporting event I’ve ever been to. Thrilled that you are getting to experience The Masters up close and personal!

Thank you, Bev. That’s daughter Kathy’s camera work – she does get some great photos. Golf is different from other sports, for sure. I have never attended any tournaments but the Masters, but I have always been impressed by the players and the crowd. I don’t actually go anymore, but most of the family goes. Daughter-in-law and the grandchildren went to the beach and I stayed home to play catch-up and watch on television. 🙂

Thank you Nancy. I am so glad Kathy loves her camera like you do! I am still trying to learn! Sunday is going to be a wonderful day at the Masters. The excitement seems to be building already! Your family will have a wonderful time, I am sure!
