How to buy a talking watch for men and for ladies – the choices are expanding. Buying a talking watch used to be simple. We quickly bought the first one we found back in 1988! Today, however, there are choices to be made before you make a final decision.
Square III Talking Wrist Watch
Set a budget. Will you choose the finest talking wrist watch available, or a budget watch? We have tried both and settled on a less expensive talking watch for my husband. He is a very active legally blind golfer. Talking watches often land in the pockets of the golf bag, or get lost easily. We just buy 2 or 3 of his favorites and always have an extra on hand. These little watches can last as long as a year – if he does not lose one.
Style and color – Researching how to buy a talking watch will quickly lead you to all the choices available. Talking watches are available in gold, silver, black and I recently found a red and black talking watch. You can have a fancy watch or a sport watch. As technology improves, our choices are much broader.

Sound – Do you want a male voice to tell you the time? A female voice? Audio clips are sometimes available so that you can hear exactly what your watch will sound like. Remember you will hear this voice hundreds and hundreds of times during the lifetime of the watch — choose carefully.
How to Buy a Talking Watch for Ladies
Would you prefer a pendant talking watch or a talking wrist watch? Ladies talking watches can be beautiful and stylish as well as convenient. A talking pendant watch is the watch of choice for many legally blind women – pendant watches are lovely to look at, and functional. Talking wrist watches for women are available in gold or silver.

I want the pink one and a male voice to tell me the time.
I wonder if I could program it to tell me how great I look in my new outfit …hmmm 😉

I had no idea there were so many options.
Thank you, Correen! I did not know how to do that, so the link opens in a new tab!
Now I have not seen one with compliments, Holley, but I will keep looking!
Granddaughter had a little book with a mirror and you could push a button and it would say “you look beautiful” or “your hair is lovely today”. I think I need to find that little mirror and keep it on my desk!
Kim, I find it fascinating that technology has come so far in just the past 20-30 years. I am always amazed by the choices in these talking products! What a blessing!
OK so I had not a clue about talking watches. Great overview and tips.

I like the watch on a pendant… it works better for me – doesn’t interfere with my typing style so much!
I’m still not sure what a talking watch does. Does it tell you the time? Remind you to take your meds? Help you remember a doctor appointment? If so, maybe my husband needs one.
Yes, Barbara, the talking watch simply tells you the time at the push of a button. Many of them include alarms, too. As reminders to take medicine. From time to time, my busy legally blind husband requests me to set his alarm to announce the time each hour.
Talking watches are helpful for anyone who has a visual impairment or is disoriented in any way. I am so thankful for the ways that talking watches help us keep our lives on schedule.
