Happy Easter! Happy Masters Week!

Happy Easter to you and your family! It’s a busy time of year for us. With my birthday and Easter both in the same week, I am reminded to review, evaluate and make new plans for my life. The flowers are starting to bloom; I feel renewed. Spring is a wonderful time to start over, begin again, make a list. Easter feels like New Year’s Eve to me. I think I can do anything and everything all at once! Help me, O Lord, to set goals that are do-able and to be reasonable with myself. 🙂

And if all my spiritual wanderings and celebrations are not enough this week, it’s Masters week. The Masters Golf Tournament starts tomorrow in Augusta Georgia. Springtime is beautiful in the south, but perhaps no spot is prettier than the Masters. The azaleas and dogwoods in bloom, the hush of the crowd as they watch the experts, the warmth of the sun — oh Masters week is glorious! A peek at the weather report shows perfect weather most of the week with possible thunderstorms on Thursday. This is Whitey’s 54th year to attend the Masters. He is so excited. Our son, daughter and son-in-law will pick him up before daybreak on Wednesday and head to Augusta. The Masters theme song will play continuously in this house all week!
PS – Yes, I have attended the Masters myself. I was 19 years old the first time Whitey took me to the Masters. That was quite a few years ago. In those days Whitey and his friend Terrell ran all over that golf course to keep up with their favorites, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer. I decided then that I would enjoy it on television in the future! 🙂

It is my hope that you enjoy this joyous season – however you celebrate! Get outside and enjoy! The world is new again!

PPS – Do take a moment to visit the Masters with us via this video. Listen to the Masters song and enjoy the beautiful springtime scenes and the golf heroes of history at the Masters. Just click to watch – Enjoy!

Thank you, Michey ! for sure, I seem to review and evaluate constantly but especially at Easter and New Year’s!

The Masters golf course is one of the prettiest spots anywhere on earth in the spring, for sure! Be sure to watch on TV if you get a chance next week. Media coverage is expected to be huge because Tiger is playing again. But you will be able to see and enjoy all the beautiful scenery as well as the golf!

🙂 Mimi, now you will recognize the song and imagine the words when you hear it on tv next week. It’s hard to explain this family’s passion for the Masters. It’s the most exciting week of the year around here — right up there with Christmas! The history, the memories, the song! A big family tradition! Every tv in this house will be tuned the Masters all week. Watch for my family on Wednesday! They will be there! It’s easy to spot Whitey in a crowd after I have plastered his photos all over the internet! lol

After 1:00 Wednesday, they will be at the # 2 green on the Par 3 course. the Par 3 tournament is going to be televised. You will see Whitey and/or you will see Kathy’s blonde hair! 🙂 (if the cameras happen to catch them, that is!) he will return home on Thursday to watch the rest of it via television.

Yes, Kate. I stay home with the doggies. I have not been to the Masters in years. I watch it all week on TV, though. I love it, but all that walking is not for me. It is so beautiful down there!

Michey, the most offensive of the press will not even be allowed in the gates. The Masters is known for its dignity and decorum. I cannot imagine that anything would get out of hand there. They are very very strict with everyone – patrons, players, media — everybody has to behave inside those gates. It’s a truly amazing place.

I just read about Ben Martin, Bob! How exciting! Yes, I will remind Whitey of that. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see him play well his first time at the Masters as a player? The article I read said that he had been attending the Masters since childhood! I cannot imagine how excited he must be!

Great! I will go find him there! Thank you for telling me! Fun to cheer for a South Carolinian at the Masters for sure!

  11. Bob Brownlee says:

    Joan,

Tell Whitey to look out for Ben Martin, a Clemson Tiger golfer from Greenwood, SC.
Hope he has a good time again!!

Ben’s father is Jim Martin (and on Facebook). They are posting some photos of the week. Ben’s a real good kid and has a great future.
