Gift Ideas for Stroke Patients

Yes, there are great gift ideas for stroke patients.   If you have a stroke patient in your life right now, you are likely searching for items that will be helpful.  A stroke can damage different parts of the body, so first find out what your patient is having difficulty doing.

There are new aids for patients, especially senior citizens, being introduced almost every week.   Keep up with the latest trends.  Electronic aids for seniors can be especially helpful.

The Reacher Grabbers
Ettore 49036 Grip ‘n Grab

One of my favorite aids is my grabber – and this is a super product for any senior, but especially a hospitalized senior citizen. I have picked up items as small as a pill, or reached to pull a blanket off a top shelf. I don’t recommend that you pull things off the shelf but it worked for me that day. A reacher grabber tool helps the patient to retrieve dropped items, or to grab things that are too far away to easily reach.
In my mind, this is a product that should be in every senior’s home, hospital room, or nursing area. And of course, that makes it a wonderful gift. This Ettore Grip ‘n Grab is the brand I purchased. The Gift of a Good Night’s Sleep
Ecotones Sound + Sleep Machine, Model ASM1002

Falling asleep is sometimes difficult for patients. Many times, a sound machine has been helpful. You will want to get family or nursing approval for your patient first, but sound machines are an excellent gift.
With this sound machine, your patient can choose his/her favorite sounds for sleeping — the ocean, rain, waterfall, or even city traffic, if that is their choice. You can read an extensive explanation on Amazon. Just click the product to read.

Adult Coloring Books and Colored Pencils

Research continues to prove that adult coloring books are relaxing for everybody — especially patients. If your stroke victim is able to draw and color, the variety of books and pens is exciting indeed.  I personally prefer the Prismacolors pencils and I keep my favorite coloring book and pens in a clipboard with storage.

Gift Ideas for Stroke Patients Who Can’t Use Their Hands

Some stroke patients have difficulty using specific parts of the body – some strokes make one hand or the other unusable. If your patient is having that kind of issue, consider the voice controlled electronics. My husband is legally blind, and he absolutely loves his Amazon Echo.
