What none of us realized at the time, was that Jessica was really paying very close attention to those sounds. This afternoon, she went out on the deck and “talked” to the cardinals in their language. She whistled and whistled and told me that she invited them to come eat. In a very few minutes, we had cardinals at the new feeders — and a few hummingbirds, too.
